Rooted: Prayer Guide - Day 3
Refuge: A Season of Prayer
Rooted
Sinking Deep Roots in the Life of God
A tree is only as strong as its roots are deep. The steady, fruitful life we long for doesn’t come from trying harder on the surface — it grows underground, in the hidden work of staying close to God. These 21 days are an invitation to sink down deep, and to stay.
— Begin on any day. Grow every day. —
Each day carries one verse and concept, prayers for morning, afternoon, and evening, and a For Families section — a simple way to grow the theme at home with your children.
How to Use This Guide
The Verse & Concept
Read the verse slowly, then the concept beneath it. Read it again, slowly. Let it name the day’s theme before you pray, and carry one line of it with you.
Morning Prayer
Pray it as the day begins — to root yourself in God before the day’s demands compete for your attention.
Afternoon Prayer
A midday return to what matters. Wherever the day has taken you, this is a moment to reconnect your roots to God.
Evening Prayer
Pray it as the day closes — to rest, to let the day’s growth settle, and to sink your roots a little deeper overnight.
Reflect
One honest question. Sit with it, journal it, or talk it through.
For Families
A simple concept and prayer to grow the theme at home with your children — through conversation, a small activity, and praying together.
Day 3: Rooted in Love
“I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend... the breadth and length and height and depth of the love of Christ.”
- Ephesians 3:17–18
Concept
The soil roots grow in is love — God’s love for you, settled and sure. Before you produce anything, you are already established in a love that will not give way.
Morning Prayer
Father, before I do a single thing today, root me in Your love. Let me work and speak and move from a love I already have, not one I’m trying to earn. Amen.
Afternoon Prayer
Lord, when I feel like I have to prove myself this afternoon, remind me I’m established in love. I’m not reaching for it — I’m standing in it. Amen.
Evening Prayer
God, as this day ends, settle me back into how wide and deep Your love is. Let my roots rest in that soil tonight. Amen.
Reflect: Do you live like God’s love for you is settled ground — or like something you still have to earn?
For Families
Concept
Ask your kids: “Is there anything you could do that would make me stop loving you?” Let them guess, then tell them clearly: nothing. Explain that God’s love is even bigger than that — it’s the soil we grow in, and it never washes away. Have everyone finish the sentence: “God loves me even when…”
Family Prayer
God, thank You that Your love is the ground under our family. Nothing we do makes You love us more or less. Root us deep in that love. Amen.
