Rooted: Prayer Guide - Day 10
Refuge: A Season of Prayer
Rooted
Sinking Deep Roots in the Life of God
A tree is only as strong as its roots are deep. The steady, fruitful life we long for doesn’t come from trying harder on the surface — it grows underground, in the hidden work of staying close to God. These 21 days are an invitation to sink down deep, and to stay.
— Begin on any day. Grow every day. —
Each day carries one verse and concept, prayers for morning, afternoon, and evening, and a For Families section — a simple way to grow the theme at home with your children.
How to Use This Guide
The Verse & Concept
Read the verse slowly, then the concept beneath it. Read it again, slowly. Let it name the day’s theme before you pray, and carry one line of it with you.
Morning Prayer
Pray it as the day begins — to root yourself in God before the day’s demands compete for your attention.
Afternoon Prayer
A midday return to what matters. Wherever the day has taken you, this is a moment to reconnect your roots to God.
Evening Prayer
Pray it as the day closes — to rest, to let the day’s growth settle, and to sink your roots a little deeper overnight.
Reflect
One honest question. Sit with it, journal it, or talk it through.
For Families
A simple concept and prayer to grow the theme at home with your children — through conversation, a small activity, and praying together.
Day 10: The Word as Water
“His delight is in the law of the Lord... He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season.
- Psalm 1:2–3
Concept
Scripture reveals God—the One our roots reach for. As we consistently plant ourselves beside the life-giving stream of His Word, day after day, growth comes slowly but surely.
Morning Prayer
Lord, let Your Word be water for my roots this morning. Not a duty but a drink. Feed me from Your Word before the day pulls me elsewhere. Amen.
Afternoon Prayer
Father, if I’m running dry this afternoon, draw me back to the stream of Your Word. Even one verse. Let it reach the deep places. Amen.
Evening Prayer
God, let Scripture water me as I rest. Settle one true word into my heart tonight, and let it take root while I sleep. Amen.
Reflect: What would a sustainable rhythm of drinking from God’s Word look like for you?
For Families
Concept
Turn off the lights and try to walk around, then turn on a lamp. Ask: “What changed?” Read Psalm 1 together, or just verse 3. Explain that the Bible is like both light and water for us — it shows us where to go and keeps us growing. Ask: “What would it look like for our family to read a little of it together?”
Family Prayer
God, let Your Word be water and light in our home. Help us read it together — not as a rule, but because it keeps us alive and growing in You. Amen.
