How to Use This Guide
The Verse & Concept
Read the verse slowly, then the concept beneath it. Read it again, slowly. Let it name the day’s theme before you pray, and carry one line of it with you.
Morning Prayer
Pray it as the day begins — to root yourself in God before the day’s demands compete for your attention.
Afternoon Prayer
A midday return to what matters. Wherever the day has taken you, this is a moment to reconnect your roots to God.
Evening Prayer
Pray it as the day closes — to rest, to let the day’s growth settle, and to sink your roots a little deeper overnight.
Reflect
One honest question. Sit with it, journal it, or talk it through.
For Families
A simple concept and prayer to grow the theme at home with your children — through conversation, a small activity, and praying together.
Day 16: The Wind that Strengthens
“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
- Matthew 7:25
Concept
Like trees, houses depend on the strength of their foundations. Storms have a way of revealing what lies beneath the surface. Trees that never encounter wind grow weak, but the strain of a storm drives their roots deeper and strengthens their trunks. In the same way, life’s storms reveal what we are built upon—and whatever is built on Christ will stand.
Morning Prayer
Lord, if the winds blow today, let them drive my roots deeper instead of knocking me down. I build my life on You, the Rock. Hold me steady. Amen.
Afternoon Prayer
Father, in the pressure of this afternoon, remind me that storms strengthen what’s rooted. I’m not falling — I’m being made stronger on the foundation of You. Amen.
Evening Prayer
God, thank You that today’s winds didn’t topple me, because I’m founded on You. Deepen what the storm strengthened. I rest secure. Amen.
Reflect: What recent storm revealed what your life is actually built on?
For Families
Concept
On a windy day, or by blowing on a small plant versus a sturdy stick, talk about how wind can knock over weak things but makes strong, rooted things even stronger. Read Matthew 7:24–25 about the house on the rock. Ask: “What does it mean to build our lives — and our family — on Jesus, the strong rock?”
Family Prayer
God, when hard storms come to our family, keep us standing strong because we’re built on You. Use even the hard things to make our roots deeper. Amen.
