Rooted: Prayer Guide - Day 15

Refuge: A Season of Prayer

Rooted

Sinking Deep Roots in the Life of God

A tree is only as strong as its roots are deep. The steady, fruitful life we long for doesn’t come from trying harder on the surface — it grows underground, in the hidden work of staying close to God. These 21 days are an invitation to sink down deep, and to stay.

— Begin on any day. Grow every day. —

Each day carries one verse and concept, prayers for morning, afternoon, and evening, and a For Families section — a simple way to grow the theme at home with your children.

How to Use This Guide

The Verse & Concept

Read the verse slowly, then the concept beneath it. Read it again, slowly. Let it name the day’s theme before you pray, and carry one line of it with you.

Morning Prayer

Pray it as the day begins — to root yourself in God before the day’s demands compete for your attention.

Afternoon Prayer

A midday return to what matters. Wherever the day has taken you, this is a moment to reconnect your roots to God.

Evening Prayer

Pray it as the day closes — to rest, to let the day’s growth settle, and to sink your roots a little deeper overnight.

Reflect

One honest question. Sit with it, journal it, or talk it through.

For Families

A simple concept and prayer to grow the theme at home with your children — through conversation, a small activity, and praying together.

Day 15: Drought and Depth

“At the scent of water it will bud and put out branches like a young plant.”

- Job 14:9

Concept

Even a cut-down tree can sense water and come back to life. Dry seasons are not the end of you — they’re often where roots are driven deepest, reaching for water they can’t yet see. Hope can bud at the first scent of grace.

Morning Prayer

Father, if I’m in a dry season, help my roots go deeper in you this morning instead of giving up. I trust that at the first scent of Your grace, life will bud again. Amen.

Afternoon Prayer

Lord, this afternoon I choose hope even in the dry stretch. You have brought dead-looking things back to life before. Do it in me. Amen.

Evening Prayer

God, thank You that dryness isn’t the end of the story. As I rest, let me catch the scent of Your living water. Bud something new in me. Amen.

Reflect: What has felt dry or dormant in you lately — and what would it mean to keep reaching for water anyway?

For Families

Concept

Talk about how some plants look totally dead in winter, but when spring rain comes, they turn green again. Ask: “Have you ever felt sad, or like something good was over?” Reassure them that with God, dry and hard times don’t last forever — new life comes. Look for a plant outside that has been through seasons and is still growing.

Family Prayer

God, thank You that even when things feel dry or sad, You bring new life. Help our family keep hoping and keep reaching for You. Amen.
