Rooted: Prayer Guide - Day 13
Refuge: A Season of Prayer
Rooted
Sinking Deep Roots in the Life of God
A tree is only as strong as its roots are deep. The steady, fruitful life we long for doesn’t come from trying harder on the surface — it grows underground, in the hidden work of staying close to God. These 21 days are an invitation to sink down deep, and to stay.
— Begin on any day. Grow every day. —
Each day carries one verse and concept, prayers for morning, afternoon, and evening, and a For Families section — a simple way to grow the theme at home with your children.
How to Use This Guide
The Verse & Concept
Read the verse slowly, then the concept beneath it. Read it again, slowly. Let it name the day’s theme before you pray, and carry one line of it with you.
Morning Prayer
Pray it as the day begins — to root yourself in God before the day’s demands compete for your attention.
Afternoon Prayer
A midday return to what matters. Wherever the day has taken you, this is a moment to reconnect your roots to God.
Evening Prayer
Pray it as the day closes — to rest, to let the day’s growth settle, and to sink your roots a little deeper overnight.
Reflect
One honest question. Sit with it, journal it, or talk it through.
For Families
A simple concept and prayer to grow the theme at home with your children — through conversation, a small activity, and praying together.
Day 13: Planted Together
“They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God.”
- Psalm 92:13
Concept
Trees in a forest intertwine their roots and hold one another up in the storm. We were never meant to be rooted alone. Planted together in God’s family, we flourish in ways we never could in isolation.
Morning Prayer
Lord, thank You for the people planted around me. Help me show up today — not just near them, but rooted with them. Let us hold each other up. Amen
Afternoon Prayer
Father, remind me this afternoon of someone who’s grown distant. Don’t let me try to grow alone. Show me whose roots to reach toward. Amen.
Evening Prayer
God, tonight I thank You that I’m planted in a family of faith. Keep me from isolating myself. Hold me up through the people You’ve placed around me. Amen.
Reflect: Who is planted close enough to you to hold you up when a storm comes?
For Families
Concept
Ask your kids: “Who are the people who help our family follow God?” Make a list — grandparents, friends, church family. Explain that trees in a forest actually hold each other up with their roots, and God made us to do the same. Ask: “Is there someone we could reach out to this week — to encourage them or spend time together?”
Family Prayer
Lord, thank You for planting us near people who love You. Help us not grow alone. Show us who to hold up this week, and let us be a family that shows up. Amen.
