Rooted: Prayer Guide - Day 12
Refuge: A Season of Prayer
Rooted
Sinking Deep Roots in the Life of God
A tree is only as strong as its roots are deep. The steady, fruitful life we long for doesn’t come from trying harder on the surface — it grows underground, in the hidden work of staying close to God. These 21 days are an invitation to sink down deep, and to stay.
— Begin on any day. Grow every day. —
Each day carries one verse and concept, prayers for morning, afternoon, and evening, and a For Families section — a simple way to grow the theme at home with your children.
How to Use This Guide
The Verse & Concept
Read the verse slowly, then the concept beneath it. Read it again, slowly. Let it name the day’s theme before you pray, and carry one line of it with you.
Morning Prayer
Pray it as the day begins — to root yourself in God before the day’s demands compete for your attention.
Afternoon Prayer
A midday return to what matters. Wherever the day has taken you, this is a moment to reconnect your roots to God.
Evening Prayer
Pray it as the day closes — to rest, to let the day’s growth settle, and to sink your roots a little deeper overnight.
Reflect
One honest question. Sit with it, journal it, or talk it through.
For Families
A simple concept and prayer to grow the theme at home with your children — through conversation, a small activity, and praying together.
Day 12: Gratitude, the Green Leaf
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Concept
Gratitude keeps the leaves green. It reorients a wandering heart toward what’s true — that we are planted, provided for, and held by a God who has never let us go. It’s hard to feel far from God while giving thanks.
Morning Prayer
Father, I begin this day with thanks — not because everything is easy, but because You are good. Let gratitude keep my leaves green all day. Amen.
Afternoon Prayer
Lord, right now, in the middle of things, I name what I’m grateful for. Thank You. Thank You. Let thankfulness pull me back toward You. Amen.
Evening Prayer
God, before I sleep, show me the gifts of this day — even the ones I almost missed. You have never once let me go. Thank You. Amen.
Reflect: What are ten things you’re genuinely grateful for right now? Start there.
For Families
Concept
Go around and have everyone name three things they’re grateful for today — even the littlest ones. Don’t skip anyone, and try to name things that aren’t the obvious big answers. Count them all up together. Remind your family: noticing what God has given us is one of the simplest ways to stay close to Him — it keeps us green.
Family Prayer
God, thank You. We name it out loud — for our family, for today, for the things we forget to notice. You are so good to us. Amen.
