Rooted: Prayer Guide - Day 6
Refuge: A Season of Prayer
Rooted
Sinking Deep Roots in the Life of God
A tree is only as strong as its roots are deep. The steady, fruitful life we long for doesn’t come from trying harder on the surface — it grows underground, in the hidden work of staying close to God. These 21 days are an invitation to sink down deep, and to stay.
— Begin on any day. Grow every day. —
Each day carries one verse and concept, prayers for morning, afternoon, and evening, and a For Families section — a simple way to grow the theme at home with your children.
How to Use This Guide
The Verse & Concept
Read the verse slowly, then the concept beneath it. Read it again, slowly. Let it name the day’s theme before you pray, and carry one line of it with you.
Morning Prayer
Pray it as the day begins — to root yourself in God before the day’s demands compete for your attention.
Afternoon Prayer
A midday return to what matters. Wherever the day has taken you, this is a moment to reconnect your roots to God.
Evening Prayer
Pray it as the day closes — to rest, to let the day’s growth settle, and to sink your roots a little deeper overnight.
Reflect
One honest question. Sit with it, journal it, or talk it through.
For Families
A simple concept and prayer to grow the theme at home with your children — through conversation, a small activity, and praying together.
Day 6: The Hidden Work
“What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
- 1 Corinthians 3:5-6
Concept
Growth is God’s work, not ours. We plant, we water, we wait — but the mysterious life that makes a seed grow comes from Him. You can rest, because you are not the one making yourself grow.
Morning Prayer
Father, this morning I remember I don’t have to force my own growth. You are the One who makes things grow. I’ll do my part and trust You with the rest. Amen
Afternoon Prayer
Lord, take the pressure off me this afternoon. I can’t manufacture life — only You can. I plant and water; You grow. I rest in that. Amen
Evening Prayer
God, even as I sleep tonight, You are at work in me, the way seeds grow in the dark. Thank You that growth doesn’t depend on my effort alone. Amen.
Reflect: Where are you striving to force growth that only God can give?
For Families
Concept
Ask your kids: “Can you make a plant grow by pulling on it?” (No — you’d hurt it!) Talk about how we can’t rush growth; we water it and wait, and God does the growing. Connect it to them: “You’re growing too — taller, and on the inside. God is doing that.” Celebrate one way each child has grown recently.
Family Prayer
God, thank You that You are the one who makes us grow — as people and as a family. Help us do our part and trust You to do Yours. Amen
